Boats on Hengistbury Head beach UK

This oil painting shows a beach scene at Hengistbury Head, near to Christchurch, Dorset,UK. It is a very hot day in the middle of July and a number of boats can be seen resting on the beach. Hengistbury Head is a wildlife preserve and contains a sliver of land only about 50ft across and sea on either side. Two rows of colourful beach huts run along it, one row facing in to the harbour of Christchurch, the other out to sea. The area is a popular destination for tourists in the area. In the painting the artist wanted to capture the activity in the area and the pretty, colourful beach huts looking towards Christchurch harbour. The painting is on a canvas sized at 16” x 20” and painted late 2012.
