People on Bournemouth beach with parasol

20" x 16" oil on canvas

This is a painting of Bournemouth Beach, in the UK.  It is based on a number of photographs, combined and repositioned in photoshop. The final resulting image is then printed out, scaled up and redrawn on to the canvas. The people are always fun and interesting to paint. The water is always tricky to do but fun. The sky reflecting on the wet sand helps to bring the painting alive. The feeling of bright sun seems to come across in the painting, probably due to the coolness of the cast shadow, caused by the parasol, on to the holiday makers below. It is painted on a canvas measuring 20" x 16" using oil paints. The painting was completed in late 2011.
