Oil and Acrylic painting

Sailing boat preparation at Weston Shore Southampton

12" x 10" oil on canvas board

southampton_southampton_sailing_at_weston_shore_southampton_water oil painting
This 10” x 12” oil painting was created during February 2014 in one sitting, painting 'wet in to wet'. The subject is a number of sailing boats being prepared for use on the water one afternoon, on the waterfront at Weston Shore on Southampton water. It is a spot where many famous ships of the past would have been viewed from sailing away from the UK, as well as current cruise ships. The dead tree, with many missing branches is a landmark in the locality. In the background can be seen the start of the port of Southampton with some large grain silos and a car transporting ship beside moored up.
